Basically the question. Is learning about web dev worth it in 2025 or am I just wasting my time and AI will make the website better than humans. Midjourney right now does really great things with images so I was wondering if AI would do the same with websites. I don't want a regular web dev job just want to earn a little on the side freelancing.

You asked really interesting question and would love to know the thoughts of pros. But for now I'm also wondering this question but won't stop my learning journey. I think AI will help make websites but if I have the knowledge of stacks then I can make the websites faster and good so I try not too be too demotivated because of AI. But would love to hear the perspective of pros.

Definitely worth learning web development in 2025, especially for freelancing. Here's why:

AI as a collaborator, not replacement:

  • AI tools can generate basic HTML/CSS and simple components, but struggle with complex, custom solutions clients actually need
  • Think of AI as your productivity multiplier - you'll deliver faster with AI assistance while maintaining quality control
Why humans still matter:

  • Clients need someone who understands their business goals and can translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Web development involves problem-solving beyond just writing code - diagnosing issues, optimizing performance, ensuring accessibility
  • You'll bring creativity and judgment that AI lacks
Freelancing advantage:

  • Freelance clients specifically want a human they can communicate with
  • For side income, the web dev + AI skills combination is perfect - handle more projects efficiently
  • Many clients will need help integrating/customizing AI-generated components
Skills to focus on:

  • UI/UX principles and accessibility (areas AI struggles with)
  • System architecture and integration
  • Problem-solving and debugging complex issues
  • Client communication and requirement gathering
AI is transforming the field, but creating the right solution still requires human expertise.
did......you just use chatgpt for this question about chatgpt?

lol, I used Claude to draft my message, I am using it a lot now a days for all my responses, I give it my draft and then it structures it in a nice polished way, it's quite useful for the folks whose primary language is not English, I don't second guess my writing anymore.

Knowledge never go waste. Don't listen to "AI will replace this or that..."'. I don't understand the hype around ai so much. specifically that "vibe code sh*t". I tried doing it in one of my project and oh boy, the more i use it more i hate it. They're good for assistance and assistance only.

Once you understand how things are working, ai tools feels like cheery on the top.

Pick up a good course, stick to the end and do projects.
