Meet Nick Pedersen, photographer, digital artist, illustrator, and your teacher for this course. Hear about his creative journey, which took him from photographing the deserts of Utah to capturing the Northern Lights in Iceland. He also shares his most influential artistic references that have inspired his work.
Get an overview of Nick’s artistic process, and hear about how he uses photography to shape his compositing and photomontages. Learn about composition and light, and how these elements can be used to create depth.
Learn how to give structure to your image by creating a landscape, adding detail, and incorporating shadows for realism. Discover how to create the illusion of depth and perspective as you explore lighting, shading, blending, and coloring techniques. Nick then shows you how to fill the frame with foreground elements.
Next, Nick walks you through incorporating narrative imagery, overlays, and visual effects. He also shows you how to work on alternate versions, like turning our daytime scene into night, and adding characters and finishing touches to complete our image.
